A Clustering Approach to Scientific Workflow Scheduling on the Cloud with Deadline and Cost Constraints

One of the main features of High Throughput Computing systems is the availability of high power processing resources. Cloud Computing systems can offer these features through concepts like Pay-Per-Use and Quality of Service (QoS) over the Internet. Many applications in Cloud computing are represented by workflows. Quality of Service is one of the most important challenges in the context of sche...

Using TetraMAX® Physical Diagnostics for Advanced Yield Analysis Improving Defect Isolation with Layout Data

Product Manager, Synopsys Introduction Scan-based DFT is now the standard digital logic testing methodology used on almost all SoC designs. It enables a highly automated approach to implementing testable designs and generating test patterns, while providing predictable, high fault coverage and scalable test cost. More recently, products such as TetraMAX DSMTest and DFTMAX are widely used for te...

Energy Discounted Computing on Multicore Smartphones

Multicore processors are not energy proportional: the first running CPU core that activates shared resources incurs much higher power cost than each additional core does. On the other hand, typical smartphone applications exhibit little parallelism and therefore when one core is activated by an interactive application, computing resources at other cores are available at a deep energy discount. ...

Test Resource Partitioning for SOCs

increasing design sizes have led to highly complex, billion-transistor integrated circuits. Testing these complex ICs to weed out defective parts has become a major challenge. To reduce design and manufacturing costs, testing must be quick and effective. The time it takes to test an IC depends on test data volume. The rapidly increasing number of transistors in ICs has spurred enormous growth i...
